What are Fillers and how do they work?
As we age, the natural collagen and elastin in the skin lessens, as cells lose their ability to produce more of their youthful component. The skin becomes dryer, thinner and less able to fix itself. When we are born, we have plentiful amounts of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in our body, but as we get older this store of HA diminishes, leaving the skin less well supported, and so lines and wrinkles develop. By lifting and smoothing targeted folds and wrinkles by adding subtle volume, dermal fillers can make a difference to a person’s appearance, giving them a fresher look.
The treatment of wrinkles with dermal filler will usually involve injecting this naturally occurring product (HA) through a tiny needle. The discomfort is minimal as the treatment does not take long to perform. The aesthetic outcomes of treatments with dermal filler are seen immediately after the treatment. Treating wrinkles with dermal filler is fast, leaving no scars. The Juvéderm range of fillers contains a variety of products, which can be used to treat different areas, from fine lines on more delicate parts of the face to deep skin depressions.
Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that can give you fuller, plumper lips.
These days, an injectable dermal filler is the most commonly used method of lip augmentation.
There are many types of dermal fillers that can be injected in your lips and around your mouth. But the most common fillers today are products that contain substances similar to hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body. It helps increase volume in your lips.
These types of dermal fillers are sometimes called “hyaluronic acid filler

At the start of the collagen facial, the skin is thoroughly cleaned with a cleanser and is then exfoliated. Skin exfoliation involves scrubbing the skin manually with various facial scrubs or applying a chemical scrub to remove dead skin cells from the skin surface. Exfoliating the skin regularly keeps it clean and the unclogged, helping to ward off acne.
The next step, after cleansing and exfoliation, is to massage the skin well with a concentrated collagen cream. Instead of a commercially purchased facial cream, a fruit pulp mix of avocado and kiwi fruit can also be used as a collagen facial mask. The applied mask is left on for about 30 minutes, and wiped off with a wet cloth. The face is then washed clean with warm water. Regular collagen facials can help keep the skin looking radiant and attractive. In addition, using a collagen facial moisturizer at night can also improve the skin appearance.

Although the FDA has approved several types of laser for permanent hair reduction, results can vary. An individual’s metabolism, hormonal level, hair quality and number of hair follicles can all affect the outcome.
Moreover, normal hair goes through a growth cycle in three stages: the anagen, or growing phase; the telogen, or resting phase; and the catagen, or transitional phase. During the anagen phase, hair is susceptible to the laser’s energy, but during the telogen and catagen phases, it is resistant.
At any one time, various percentages of body hair will be in each of these phases, making complete removal unlikely without multiple sessions.
Typically five or six treatments are necessary to achieve the desired result.
Chemical peels, also known as chemexfoliation or derma-peeling, use a chemical on the face which makes the skin peel off allowing new skin to replace it. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun.
This is a cosmetic treatment and is not generally available on the NHS and has to be paid for as a private treatment.
What conditions does a chemical peel treat?
Chemical peels are performed on the face, neck or hands. They can be used to:
- Reduce fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth.
- Treat wrinkles caused by sun damage, ageing and hereditary factors.
- Improve the appearance of mild scarring.
- Treat certain types of acne.
- Reduce age spots, freckles and dark patches due to pregnancy or taking contraceptive pills ( melasma).
- Improve the look and feel of skin that is dull in texture and colour.
Warts are small, usually painless growths on the skin. Most of the time they are harmless. They are caused by a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV). Some types of warts are spread through sex.
Warts may affect your appearance and can be embarrassing. Warts may itch or hurt (especially when they are on the feet).
Most often, warts are harmless growths that go away on their own within 2 years. Warts around and under your nails are harder to cure than warts in other places. Warts can come back after treatment even if they appear to go away. Minor scars can form after warts are removed.
